The north Meath combination of St. Michaels and Nobber had to dig deep to see off a determined Oldcastle side which only finally allowed them to get away deep into the fourth quarter of this entertaining first round Leinster League match played in Carlanstown on Saturday afternoon.

Oldcastle were first on the board with a goal after 90 seconds however Conor Owens opened the home sides account on two minutes and this score was quickly followed by a well taken goal from Jakub Bidinski, Declan Reilly added a further major at the end of the first quarter. Oldcastle extended their lead to three points immediately after the restart and that lead was stretched to 6 points 30 seconds later with their 6th goal of the match, however Jakub Bidinski pulled it back to a three point game with his second major on 34 minutes. Scores began to flow from the home side with JoJo Ogungbe, Cathal Walsh and Bidinski all getting on the scoreboard to edge their side in front for the first time and further scores from Jamie Murray, Gustas Povecivios and Aaron Gaffney put the game out of Oldcastle’s reach even though they finished their scoring with a converted penalty and a point from play.
