Half time: St. Michaels 1-06, Seneschalstown 3-05.

Two clubs moving in opposite directions met in round 7 of the P.S. Supplies division 2 league in Seneschalstown on Friday evening last and that stark reality was reflected in the final scoreline as table toppers Seneschalstown reeled off 2-14 to St. Michaels single point from a free in the second half to inflict the fifth defeat of the campaign on the visitors.

Oran Meehan pointed in the first minute for St. Michaels, however that lead lasted all of two minutes when Seneschalstown drove the first of their five majors past the hapless Daithí Regan who cut his teeth playing in front of goals rather than in them, as he stood in for the regular ‘keeper Darren O’Connell who was injured.

In the following 20 minutes Seneschalstown playing into the road end added a further 1-5 to just a point from Davy Lynch for St. Michaels to lead by 2-5 to 0-2. St. Michaels then had their best spell of the match when they added a point apiece from Ciaran Lynch, Matthew Halpin, Shane McCormack and Oran Meehan before Davy Lynch got on the end of a good move involving Meehan and McCormack to rattle the net in the 30th minute, however the home side went straight back up field to goal for the third time for a 3-5 to 1-6 interval lead.

It was all one way traffic in the second period as Seneschalstown added a further 2-14 with ease as Davy Lynch added his sides only score of the half, a point after 41 minutes and to cap a bad night St. Michaels had to finish the game with 14 men as Oran Meehan was sent for an early shower after receiving a red card on 52 minutes.
