Ladies FL Division 1, Round 1

Full time: St. Michaels 2-07, Dunboyne 3-22,
Half time: St. Michaels 1-04, Dunboyne 2-09.

The St. Michaels ladies suffered a heavy defeat to visitors Dunboyne in their opening game of this seasons division 1 campaign in balmy conditions in Carlanstown last evening.

Dunboyne raced into a two point lead in the opening three minutes and although Sinéad McCormack pulled one back from play the visitors added a further three points before the tenth minute had elapsed. Two points from Marion Farrelly and a point from Seona Lynch after some good foraging work by Alicia Curtis reduced the deficit to a point on 12 minutes.

Dunboyne dominated the next 15 minutes despite some solid goalkeeping by Sarah Bradley they still managed 1-5 without reply, the goal coming from the penalty spot. Marion Farrelly blasted to the back of the net on 27 minutes but the visitors added another major to lead by 2-9 to 1-4 at the break.

Any hopes of a big comeback by St. Michaels were significantly dented when the visitors nabbed their third goal just 40 seconds into the second half. St. Michaels did respond with a point from Seona Lynch but Dunboyne were moving the ball well all over the pitch and added a further 13 points in the second period while Seona Lynch (0-1) and McCormack (1-1) completed the second half scoring for the home side.
